Two options for integration in ci-book™

ci‑book™ offers two options when integrating Fotoware's Digital Asset Management system (DAM): The image files stored in the DAM can be found and used directly in the ci‑book™ "Universal Editor" when editing templates and documents. Afterwards, the created publications can be exported as Adobe PDF and stored in the DAM for backup.

1. Usage of Fotoware when editing templates and documents in the Universal Editor.

This option allows ci-book™ users to find the desired or required images with different file formats in Fotoware and use them in the Universal Editor for templates and documents. Even with large image inventories, the pagination provided via interface (API) enables very good results to be achieved for performance and scalability.

Users of ci‑book™ can establish a connection to Fotoware's DAM within the Universal Editor via the function call "Mediapool" - a name change of this function is already planned for a later release of ci-book™.

The modal window that appears after this function call offers the user the possibility to use the search function also provided by the interface. By means of different parameters, such as the file name, the so-called tags, the colour space etc., the desired images can be found very quickly. In addition to the search function, the folders already created in Fotoware are displayed in the left-hand area of the modal window. And in addition to the obligatory information, such as the previews (thumbnails), dimensions, file sizes and file formats, the modal window also shows the information on the effective resolution (DPI) of an image in the intended image field, which helps to avoid the use of wrong images or images with too low a resolution.

Further details and displays of information in the modal window relevant to image or other media files can be added on request and as required. Once the desired image has been found and selected, the "Place" action places it in the designated image field of the template or document.

2. Usage of Fotoware for saving and archiving publications as Adobe® PDF.

With this option, publications created in ci-book™ can be exported as Adobe® PDF and automatically saved and archived in a folder previously defined within the Fotoware DAM system.
